R.C. Beam Design Spreadsheet to BS 8110-1: 1997
Essential spreadsheet for reinforced concrete beam design. This spreadsheet is an extremely efficient tool and allows to quickly design simply supported single span reinforced concrete beams. Required reinforcement is displayed in a very easy to appreciate way - on elevation and cross section diagrams.
- A clear and easy to read output (all on a single page);
- Longitudinal elevation and cross section showing required reinforcement; - Beam types: Rectangular; (L-shape, T-shape to be added later) - Calculations include: moment, shear, compression reinforcement and code dependant deflection; - Calculates enhanced reinforcement area to achieve required span/depth ratios; - Option to manually increase number of compression reinforcement for deflection check; - Checks reinforcement detailing rules; - Loading options: UDL, 2x Partial UDL, 2x Point Load; - 'Live' Loading diagram; - Changeable safety factors; - Additional options like limiting spacing of top bars to allow for a poker; or limiting link spacing; - Design is based on British Standard (BS 8110-1 1997). (Note: macros must be enabled for proper working of the spreadsheet. Follow instructions in this video)
"Love the graphical representation of rebar. No question about how links should be detailed." Karin
"This spreadsheet was very helpful to me. I used it to confirm all my manual computations. It also assisted me to compare the new EN 1992-1-1 with BS 8110." Anji-Sob Erekosima - Anedian Group Co. Ltd
