(and Hydraulic Research Table 35 and 36) Available for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac users.
Spreadsheet for calculating discharge stack and foul drain diameter. The laborious task of calculating flow rate per stack/laundry is fully automated. This makes the whole design very quick and easy. User specifies number of appliances (basin, bath, sink, WC, etc) per apartment or laundry and the spreadsheet calculates flow rates. There is an option to specifies various combinations per stack/drain when calculating required diameters (e.g. two stacks plus one laundry; or two laundries only). This gives a lot of flexibility so that all design cases can be easily covered. The spreadsheet uses Chezy, Escritt and Colebrook-White equations to calculate flows and required drain diameters. Discharge stacks are calculated based on table 11 and 12 of the code.
The spreadsheet does Colebrook-White checks like 'drain running full' or 'drain running partially full'. It also allows to specify required 'minimum flow velocity' or maximum 'drain bore height percentage' (typically taken as 0.75 unless future developments are envisaged). The spreadsheet switches between the 'Discharge Units' tables depending on a selected 'discharge system type'. There are additional options like primary and secondary stacks, frequency factor, stack entry type etc. Therefore the spreadsheet is a very comprehensive tool that covers all design aspects. There are in-spreadsheet explanations for various entry cells. So there should be no need to look into the code nor the Hydraulic Research tables. This spreadsheet was specially developed for Windows and Mac users.
- A clear and easy to read output (all on a single page);
- Easy to use table for inputting number of appliances per apartment or laundry; - Flow rates are automatically calculated; - Uses Chezy, Escritt and Colebrook-White equations. User can select which one is to be used (or all); - Appropriate 'Discharge Units' table is automatically used based on selected 'discharge system type'; - Comprehensive spreadsheet which allows to design simple and complex drainage cases; - User can specify required 'minimum flow velocity'; - User can specify required maximum 'drain bore height percentage'; - Stack and drain diameter calculations are automatically and user only has to specify pipe layout; - In-spreadshseet help file for quick access. There should be no need to look into the code; - Quick summary of utilization factors; - Results are updated automatically as input is changed; - Two versions are available: one for Microsoft Windows users and one for Apple Mac users; - Design is based on BS EN 12056-2 2000. (Note: macros must be enabled for proper working of the spreadsheet. Follow instructions in this video)
