Spreadsheet for designing flitch (also called flitched) beams. It allows to design timber and steel plate working as a composite beam - bolted. Used where timber alone is not strong enough. Spreadsheet combines fast input and clear output making it easy to use and allows to significantly reduce time spend on designing.

I was very surprised to see that the flitch beam spreadsheet also checks bolts. Well presented, should be easy to understand by Building Control engineer.

I had a particularly difficult design issue to resolve due to a builder error. This was due to the builder not following the design intent. The roof joists were undersized & difficult to remove due to the shallow pitch of 15 degrees. This spreadsheet was invaluable in providing a practical solution which was acceptable to the Local Authority with this particular project.
