Imperial Paper Sizes - ARCH Paper Series
Additional to the ANSI Paper Series is the Architectural Paper Series. These paper sizes are typically used for architectural purposes and are usually abbreviated “ARCH” to differentiate from the ANSI Paper Series.
The largest paper size in this series, i.e. ARCH E, has an area of around 1.11m2. All smaller paper sizes thereafter (ARCH D, C, B and A) have half the area of the preceding paper size. This is achieved by halving the preceding paper size across the larger dimension - this is similar like in the ISO 216 and ANSI Paper Series. Like with the ANSI Paper Series, the use of an arbitrary aspect ratio means that this series has two alternating aspect ratios i.e. 4:3 and 3:2.
The below diagrams are to give paper measurements and visually explain how each of the sizes in this series is created.
